Optimum health relies on sound communication between the body, mind and spirit.  When the lines of communication remain intact, the body has a unique ability to maintain health and balance.  However, breakdown of this communication system may lead to physical, mental, or spiritual imbalances.

Our soul plays a vital role in revealing this communication breakdown through manifesting physical symptoms and sensations.  Dr. Christine Northrup, MD theorizes that your “…health depends on what’s going on with your mind, body and soul, and your symptoms are actually your soul’s way of bringing deeper issues to your attention.”  The problem is in knowing how to decipher the language of the soul and what it may be revealing to us.

Internally, all our thoughts, beliefs and emotions hold energy frequencies that can either harm or heal the body. However, this presents a problem since the subconscious mind is a million times more powerful than our conscious mind.  It holds many of our beliefs which are deeply rooted and usually not consciously perceived, making lasting change a challenge.

Through stress, traumas, emotional or physical imbalances our energy systems can become depleted and toxic. Our energy systems are intricate complex structures which include the aura, chakras, and meridians all of which are masterfully designed to support and nourish the body-mind.  These energies mirror our state of health and may be influenced by internal or external factors.  In addition, our energies can be influenced by our life experiences. Such complex body-mind interactions can be better understood when we look at the relationship between our energies and emotions when dealing with fear or anger.

When we experience a fearful event an energetic reaction ripples throughout our system.  Fears are considered cold producing emotions that lower our energy frequencies.  Since the energies lower, they can cause imbalances in the lower chakras and their associated structures.  In this particular example, the bladder and kidneys may be affected.  From an eastern healing perspective, the kidneys are considered our internal heating system and are analogous to a furnace.   Physically we would sense this energy imbalance as cold feet and a drop in body temperature.  To compensate, the kidneys may increase frequency of urination to rid the body of the lower energies of fear.

Anger on the other hand is a heat producing emotion which tends to cause our energies to rise.  Imbalances due to anger tend to cause disruptions in our higher chakras and may affect physical structures such as the heart and liver.  Physically we sense this shift in energy as heat rising towards the face in the form of a red flush, increased body temperature or sweating.  Since the liver meridian ends in the eye region, a person may also experience red, itchy irritated eyes.  In doing so, the physical body is attempting to release excess heat from the body due to anger.

When an emotional charge is connected to a particular event, we are more likely to absorb the energy of the experience into our system.  For example, our chakra centers act as memory banks that “…code your experiences in their energies, just as memories are chemically coded in your neurons. An imprint of every emotionally significant event you have experienced is believed to be recorded in your chakra energies.”  David Feinstein, PhD.  Once imprinted, these energies stay with us until they are freed from our body-mind.

It has been theorized that positive thinking alone cannot release the negative impact of such emotionally charged states from our system.   Although it “…is a good idea, much better than negative thinking, but while you are engaged in positive thoughts using the conscious mind, the subconscious mind with its limiting and self-sabotaging programs is running the show! Consequently, positive thinking does not improve the situation for most people.”  Dr. Bruce Lipton

To make real improvements in our situations we may have to go within, not without and clear away some of the old beliefs that may be impacting our system. We must gently explore the many beliefs that make up who we are. To do this, deeper unconscious thoughts and blocked memories may have to be addressed. Once brought to conscious awareness for healing and released through our energetic system, a ripple effect of healing will spread throughout the body-mind. Then we are in a position to make real, lasting change.
