12 Ways to Create Inner Happiness

In the midst of a chaotic world, carving out space and time for yourself is key. Although you may not be able to control the outside world, there are many ways to foster happiness on the inside. Here are twelve easy ways you can create inner-happiness:

Intend Your Day

Try setting an intention for your day. This can be achieved through writing goals or even through prayer. By being clear of your intentions, the universe is able to reorganize itself to bring about these intentions for you. You can take periodic breaks throughout the day and ‘segment intend’ the day you wish to create. Are you creating the day you intended? If not, stop, take a breath and intend again.

Visualize Your Dreams

Our dreams are our hope for tomorrow. Whenever you are feeling down, think about your dreams and they will bring renewed hope and energy to your day. Visualize yourself feeling good right now!

Words of Affirmation

Find an affirmation that really speaks to you. Affirm it to yourself often. Start telling yourself each and everyday that you are great. Your body & mind will listen and slowly you will start to believe it. Life is good and life is meant to be good for YOU!

Change Your Environment

The mind can be an never-ending hamster wheel. Change your environment which will change the flow of your thoughts. Get outside, go for a walk or meet a friend. Whatever it takes, get yourself out of your mental cage and set yourself free!

Dance

Put on your favourite music and dance. Don’t worry about what your neighbours or others may think; it’s good for the soul and just feels great! It’s virtually impossible to stay down when you allow yourself to dance.

Exercise

It has been scientifically proven that exercise helps increase the natural endorphins which make us feel good. If you can’t control your mood with your mind, let your body take control and help lift your spirits. It doesn’t take much time but the rewards are plentiful.

Nature

Let nature clear your energy and revitalize your spirit. Get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Surround yourself with the trees, get your feet on the ground or go to the ocean.

Acts of Service

I believe that being of service is the best gift WE can receive. When you give of yourself freely, energy fills you up first as it flows out to others. If you can’t help yourself, help another.

Be Silent

Enjoy spending time in silence to reflect and decompress. No tv, no radio, just you. A quiet mind can reset your entire system. Take the time to be with yourself. You just might find that you really enjoy your own company.

Find A Mentor

Mentors inspire us. They uplift us and provide hope for our success. They may be someone you know or a public figure you have yet to meet. Regardless of who they are, remember we all need help sometimes.

Encouragement

No one can deny us anything. We can only do that to ourselves. But this is because we may not fully see the power that is within us just waiting to be discovered. There is nothing you can’t have or achieve if you only believed it were so. In fact, there is nothing lacking in you at all except awareness of who you really are!

Gratitude

If you do nothing else, be grateful. Remember to say thanks for the ‘little things’ and take time throughout your day to be grateful. By giving thanks, we are creating more of that which we can be grateful for.

If you intentionally assimilate these small changes into your daily life, you will begin to see shifts within yourself and in your outlook on life. Inner-happiness cannot be bought or given. We must look within and invest in our own growth to foster change, peace, and inner-happiness.
